Intensive animal husbandry is impossible without feed additives. In small quantities they catalyze metabolic reactions inside the body and increase genetic potential of highly productive animals, including the Simmental breed. The most available feed additives are native ones. In this regard, current research is aimed at examining the effect of cyanobacterium Arthrospira platensis (spirulina) on Simmental breed hematological profile and milk yield, that is of great theoretical and practical importance for the agro-industrial complex.
This article deals with the results of scientific and economic research on spirulina dry matter additives in the diets of Simmental cows, starting from the dry period with different concentrations: 3, 5 and 8 g/head/day.
The results of hematological analysis reliably indicate the superiority of cows from the experimental groups over the control group, which received only the basic diet on the farm, in a number of indicators: the content of erythrocytes is higher by 9.7-10.9%; hemoglobin – by 6.8-7.9%; total protein - by 8.3–9.9%; albumins – by 5.5-5.8%; calcium – 4.36-5.40%; handicap – by 5.10-6.88%. Such indicators as alkaline reserve, glucose, ketone bodies, and urea are within the limits of the physiological norm in all groups.
The data obtained reflect a more intensive course of oxidation-reduction reactions and metabolic processes in cows of the experimental groups and, as a result, there is a higher milk yield compared to the control group: in the first group – by 1.32 kg (5.26%), in the second and third – by 1.12 kg (4.50%) and by 1.31 kg (5.22%), respectively.
It is advised to include 3 g of cyanobacterium Arthrospira platensis dry matter with a filler in the form of wheat bran (47 g) in the diets of cows, starting from the dry period, to improve the distribution of spirulina active ingredients and quality of the feed mixture.
